Living as a foreigner on Grenada, I am amazed at how people spoil their own holidays by their expectations. If they would just let the experience teach them about where they are and how things work, they would be able to adapt and enjoy! Next time you want to complain about something, ask yourself if your expectations are leading to the disappointment you're experiencing...

This makes so much sense on so many levels. It is a terrific reminder to respect and understand other peoples' customs and cultures.Rudeness and interolance should be left at home when travelling!

Thanks, Ryan.

It's awful how many travelers don't respect local people and customs. When I see it happening, I get offended on behalf the locals. Thank goodness Anguillians that I know have a lot more restraint than I would in those situations! :)

Great post.

I totally agree. You are visiting their home, their country. Respect it's customs and culture. The local hangouts and the locals themselves are the true treasure of visiting another land..bet it an island or another place on the other side of the world. Sure the tourist places can be fun but I like to explore the land and people, that's when you really get to know a place. Isn't that what travel is about anyways?

I love island time!
Cheers!
