Dear friends,
Some of you may have noticed that IslandObsessions.com has been down for the past few days. Over the New Year’s holiday, the site was hacked and was essentially wiped-out. As a result, I had to rebuild much of the blog from what backups I had and the rest had to be done from scratch. The site is almost back to “normal” but you may find that some parts are missing or not functioning exactly as they did in the past. I hope to get things completely straightened out in the very near future, so please bear with me!
Some subscribers may have received some older duplicate posts via e-mail and I apologize for that annoyance. It should not continue to happen from this point on, but if you do continue to receive old posts, please let me know in the comments below and I will fix it as soon as possible.
Believe it or not, I have actually found this rebuilding process to be a rewarding one. I was devastated to find that my blog had been attacked and that all of the content into which I had put so much time and effort had just vanished into thin air just like that. With that, though, came the realization of just how special writing all of these posts have been to me and how passionately I feel about the subject matter:
I love writing and I looooooove Anguilla.
So I have worked painstakingly hard over the past few days to bring back every word of every post, every image and every link contained on these pages. IslandObsessions.com is just too special to me and I couldn’t let it disappear.
I am so thankful to everyone who has come to read my ramblings over the years and I am especially appreciative of those who have let me know their thoughts on my writings via comments, Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. It means a lot that there are people who return time after time to see what’s new and who even deem my posts worthy of sharing with others.
Thank you all for making this blog so worthwhile to write and I hope that you continue to find it enjoyable!
-Patty
Sorry to hear about your blog being hacked. I appreciate all the time you have put into it and into rebuilding it! I can’t get enough of Anguilla and look forward to reading every new installment.
Hi beachlover,
Thank you! You’re one of the ones that has returned many times, so you were definitely part of the inspiration to bring the site back online. I’m looking to get a new post up soon, so stay tuned! Thanks again!
Oh, Patty, that’s awful! So sorry to hear about the hacking and loss. But I admire your pluck and determined spirit, and I’m very glad to have you back with us in the Caribbean blogosphere! Cheers to a better 2013.
Thanks Dawn! No worries. You know all too well how attached we get to our islands, so that’s clearly where the determination came from! Happy New Year to you and may your 2013 island adventures be exciting, plentiful and safe!
Oh Patty, I am so sorry for you, what a big pain. Why are people so mean and vile, it really makes me wonder about human nature.
Thank you for all the pleasure you have given me, I appreciate all you do.
Ellen
Ellen,
Unfortunately, it’s just something that happens in this age of technology and I didn’t take proper precautions. My fault. Glad I was able to bring most of it back though!
Thanks, as always, for reading! It’s good to know I’m not just talking to myself here, sometimes! :)

Patty,
We are sooooo sad to hear about this horrible experience! Glad to hear you had some posts backed up. We recently lost some post with a glitch and were very upset we lost them. I know it is a setback but please remain resilient and keep the positive energy directed towards your passion!

Mango Eddie & Passionfruit Sista,
Thanks for returning and for your words of support! It was definitely a pain to have to rebuild, but it also showed me just how much this blog and its subject matter mean to me. If I didn’t care, islandObsessions.com would have been gone forever.
Sorry to hear that you lost some of your posts – it’s hard to lose something you worked hard on. Check with your hosting company to see if they have any backup services. It’s worth it!
PS I’m diggin’ the new nicknames! :)
Patty,
I am happy to see that you have not given up your beautifully done and informative blog after that unfortunate incident. Praises to you!
All the very best and happy travels in 2013!
Thanks Eliza!
No, I couldn’t let it go. :) People like you who come back time after time make it worth it, so thanks to you for that too.
Best to you too and may you have plenty of travel adventures in 2013.
